couple threads full of information. he has other stuff but its more directed towards tacomas and 4runners. I wish he'd do a f250 housing and figure out which bulbs actually work best.
I have a question for you guys? with the cost of the OEM 17-19 LED lights being very affordable now(theres plenty on ebay and car-part.com) why not get the oem ones? is it still cheaper to go with these morimoto lights? ive yet to read about anyone having solid reliable service from these morimoto lights
I agree that the OEM LED headlights are better but even a used set with all the required harnesses will cost more than a new set of Morimoto LED headlight assemblies.
It’s horrible to hear all the issues. I may be one of the lucky ones. Got mine 2 years ago and haven’t had any issues (knock on the wood). I kept the OEM halogens as insurance if they go bad. Probably wouldn’t pick up their other products. (Been waiting on their LED taillights)

im not great at math(my wife is), but oem headlights got for 500 each roughly, and the harness is 300 so thats 1300, then some forscan changes and youre good to go ? arent these morimoto lights 1800?

I haven't looked in quite some time so maybe the price has come down. But at one time to add OEM LED was in the $2-$3k range with the lights, ballasts & harnesses. Not to mention the FORScan changes.
A very quick eBay search showed them at anywhere from $330 to $900+ per light without any of the other hardware & harnesses.

If I were going to replace the light housings I'd go with OEM. As more and more of the current style trucks get made, the price to do the swap has to come down.
Which ones do you have? I can't decide between the fogs and the drivers...
I have the Pro white fog lights. My thinking was that my headlight upgrade would be sufficient producing forward light so I wanted something that would illuminate out to the sides. These definitely do that.

I bought a set of Morimoto XB Hybrid in Sept. 2020 for the 2019 that I had. While they were in transit to me I ended up buying a 2020. I found out that they would not work on the 2020 for whatever reason so I returned them without ever opening the box.
But if the brief look at OEM housing prices that I saw on eBay is an indicator, I agree that I'd just go OEM now if I wanted LED and the halo outline. I suppose I could always feel different in the future but at this time I just don't see it in the cards.

The original poster is doing this to a 2018 XLT, the 2017-2019 lights(OEM) are very affordable now. my comment about OEM being cheaper was in relation to that front end. the 2020 lights are still fetching a fair penny currently.

Makes sense.

Yep. The 2020+ housings should drop in price going forward unless inflation continues to worsen.

And of course I'll soon be moving on to a 2022 so I would guess it gets pricier still. As stated in my other post I guess it's not really a priority for me. Unless a dramatic price drop happens one of these days.
