Steering column noise

2003 f250 I have a noise in my column when turning. I can't hear it from outside listening to the pump. I can only hear it from inside. It sounds like a medium tone squeal when I turn left ot right.
Any thoughts on what this maybe? I have heard of two small plastic washers going bad but cant seem to find the info.

The clock spring will often make a noise when it's starting to fail.

thanks Dave. Would that be more of a clicking instead of a moan? Looks pretty complicated in the column. I wonder if it would be better to by rebuilt column to replace all of it. Just not sure how to go about diagnosing this thing without tearing it apart.knowing me I wouldn't get it back together properly .
