Hi, I'm new on this site, and don't have extensive mechanical knowledge, also working away from truck at the moment.
Traded for a 91 F350 7.3 4x4 non turbo in a no shift condition, no change in idle.
I replaced the fluid and filter, checked the tps was in range, and replaced the vss.
I found fluid on the solenoid connection, wiped it off, not persistent leak.
I lifted the rear end and spun the rear tires, the passenger side spun the drive shaft, the driver's side was stuck, assuming brake is stuck.
Last visit I opened the transfer case fill port and fluid gushed out, is there a broken seal?
No replacement transmissions in my area. Can I put in a TR100 with original solenoid, pump, and shift sensor? Looking for as straight forward repair as possible. Other options are looking at conversion to standard.
It was the 4r100 I was thinking of. OK, best to keep in simple. Replacing is cheaper than rebuilding where I am. Trans from a wrecker is less than $1000 CAD, rebuilt is more than $3000. I called the transmission guy (Metco if you're in Victoria) said the planetary in the transfer case was chewed up and the seal between the trans and the case was broken, maybe among other things.
Well in that case the 4R100 is just a product improved version of the E4OD. But I have no idea if the computer will play nice with the swap. They do seem to use the same harness though.
