Gotta tell you, I have had both, and I’ll take the GM design. The B pillar also adds integrity.

I got the SCSB F250 due mostly to the shorter wheelbase, but also because they are more rare. My kids are grown, dogs don't travel with us. the back seats fit a normal size adult just fine, but you do have to open the front door for that rear door to open.

The 8k dollar premium for a diesel over a 7.3 buys A LOT of fuel.

Seems ~20mpg unloaded in a diesel and 15 unloaded in a 7.3. Towing seems like about 12 and 9-10 respectively.

5mpg and ~3mpg difference.

Lets break down 1000 miles on unloaded numbers.

66 gallons for the 7.3 and 50 gallons for the diesel. 16 gallons difference. Lets say price is the same $3 just for easy math. Thats $48 more per 1k miles to fuel the 7.3 vs. the 6.7. 8000/48 is 166. If I did it right thats 166k miles to break even on your 8k bucks when looking at the MPG difference... and thats counting gas and diesel as the same cost, which there is usually a 30-40c spread, which makes the math even worse. Somebody in another thread said 175-200k miles to break even on the cost of the diesel. They are probably correct.

8k bucks buys 2666 gallons of gas at 3 bucks a gallon. 2666 x 15mpg=39,990 miles. So 40k miles of fuel paid for. For me thats ~3 years of fuel paid for.

If you look at the towing numbers between the 7.3 and diesel in a SRW, there is almost zero advantage to a diesel as you are realistically maxed out on rear axle and tire ratings. You get less payload with the diesel because of the weight. I think where the diesel shines is in the DRW trucks where you can take full advantage of the torque the diesel offers.

I wanted a diesel also when we started looking at super duties a month or two ago. I had a 2018 Duramax and ive had 2 diesel cars(VW and Chevy Cruze). I love diesel. I couldnt make the math work for my purpose.

Now had the 7.3 not existed and the choice was 6.2 gas vs. 6.7 diesel, the diesel wins all day long. The 7.3 and 10 spd is a game changer IMO.

Not trying to sway you one way or the other, its your money, but I think if you dig into the ford books and look at all the capabilities you will likely come to the same conclusion. And at the end of the day you may still say "damn it, I want a diesel because I want a diesel" and thats ok too...

i went from a 16 super cab short bed to a crew cab short box. Largely to get the tremor. The extra length is very noticeable. While I don’t hate my truck, I will never buy another crew cab. The super cab with the 6’8” box is just a better all around truck for me. I could get by just fine with a regular cab 8’ box. That’s what I drove up to 2016.

I like the look so I stayed with SC for my 22 since I had to order anyways. Never had any resale issues with previous SC’s and I like to be a bit different as you rarely see non fleet SC’s nowadays.
Like others have said some options are not available (LED headlights are one I wish were available).

I’ve had one with kids and what a pain. Especially if someone parks next to you. You have to open the front door cozy up in that opening open the rear door if its windy while keeping a hand in the front door. Try to get kids in dancing around. Then you can finally close the rear door and get in. Now if I weren’t loading kids when I had it I may have found them more pleasant. Not to mention the Gm ones the inner handles break regularly adding to the frustration lol.

in do see the benefit of not having a pillar of you were getting items in the rear.

I prefer the Supercab for these reasons.

* Takes less room in my garage
* Easier to maneuver and park
* MORE convenient than a full 4 door if you don't have passengers very often. Easier in a parking lot to open rear doors. Easier to open to load package/dog.
* Better looking truck IMO

Biggest downside is Lariat Value Package is as fancy as it gets. You'll never get factory LED headlights.

Ford should consider adding more equipment options to the SC.

You know, super cabs do look good. What’s the back seat look like?

Well, I’ll put it like this, while waiting for my 2020’ to come in, during the summer of 19’ that GMC was the truck we used to tow the boat.
Son was too tall for the back seat, so my wife took one for the team. By the time we got to the dock, she was a little grumpy, very much resembling Linda Blair..

Why is everyone throwing shade on the SC rear doors? My 07 F-150 rear doors were in fact awful for loading groceries and such with a car parked next to you, but my 2022 F-250 (and I assume the F-150 and SD lines for several years now) the doors fold nearly flat against the bed and makes life pretty easy. Perfect for our empty nest/retired needs. And I like the lines of the truck, long bed and all.

I really like the new SC doors. Like the old commercial used to ask, "Have you driven a Ford... lately?"

A SC is what I placed on order for the same reasons as others have listed, shorter truck and no kids. Also, agree with the same option limitations which sort of stinks. I placed the order in June and so far crickets so this weekend I put another order in with another dealer for a CC short bed and more options LED light etc.

I have a F250 XLT CCSB 6.2 and have 3,417 lbs payload. Curious how yours is rated less than mine. Must have some other heavy options on it.
