Still working...sort of

I saw this out in front of an Antique store being used as an advertisement like a billboard. Couldn't help but walk around it a few times taking pictures and offering it some words of comfort and encouragement. Wierd? Maybe, but it mad me smile.

It soldiers on despite the bullet holes. Might the owner be interested in exchanging dollars for the Magic Air badge and radio? Seems they aren’t being used otherwise. Stu

Love it, especially the bullet holes. My 48 has one hole in the drivers door, 2 more were repaired with lead before I got it. The wooden bed is riddled with 9m and .45 holes, like someone had used it for target practice, actually they needed more practice based on how scattered the holes are.

I like to touch old vehicles like that. I touch them to try to feel their life. I'm not a weirdo, just like to feel them and think of all the work they did and how many they took a complete family on some sort of outing. I feel the same way when I see a run down abandoned house.

Not sure if any parts are available as the owner wasn't available at the time. I'll persue it and try and find out.

Did ya notice that the bullets did not go all the way through the door? That Ford Steel is tough.

Don’t do it for me, I don’t need them. They would just be prime things to scavenger if the the owner was willing. Stu

Dave, Those headlight rims are like the ones that were on my '52 when I bought it. I found some "shiny" ones from a '51 to replace them. If I remember correctly, yours came with the nicer ones. Makes me wonder if they changed to the "crummy" rims late in '51 or maybe it was just a difference between the standard cab and the optional "Extra"? In the background of your last picture (by the flag pole) I see another truck - is that one a Ford? Thanks! - Bob

yeah the truck in the background is a Chevy, 40's ish, I think, I'm not up on the earlier Chevy's. It is positioned to be an "opposite " to the Ford and is pretty cool itself but I got sidetracked and didn't get any pics. I'll be back there next time I visit my son and will get some then.
