"After I get to 1200-1500 RPM's it works alright, except for one thing. When I get into the power band (3000+ RPM's) the truck doesn't go anywhere! It rev's all the way like mad, but doesn't go anymore. It's like driving into a wall of marshmellows. There's no acceleration at all."
Is the clutch slipping at the above mentioned time? In other words do the engine rpm's go up while the truck speed remains constant? Or does the truck just run out of power while the rpm's remain at a constant 3000?
I wonder if you have an engine related problem causing a loss of power. This could also explain why it dies when you start off from a stop.

I've narrowed it down to this. My truck has loads of power, the truck will rev all the way to the heavens it's just that the driveline won't let it.

it goes all the way with no hesitation, so it's defenitley not the engine.
"Is the clutch slipping at the above mentioned time? In other words do the engine rpm's go up while the truck speed remains constant?" - You are right here, this is exactly what it does. Also the when starting off if I don't rev it up enough then the truck will start bouncing like it's going to stall, but it doesn't do this all the time just occasionally. Someone please help me!
Just a thought... you state eng. revs to the heavens but it could be the problem when put under load! I would suggest you take it to a qualified ASE mechanic and have a diagnostic ck run on the eng. sensors i.e., egr valve, oxygen, throttle advance position etc. It should run about $75 or so but it will definately eliminate a lot of questions. If everything cks OK go back & beat the HELL out of the idiot who worked on your TRANS>(just kidding) Good Luck!
alright guys. It seems like we've been talking about the drivetrain the whole time and that wasn't even the problem. Now before you shake your heads, just here me out.
The problem doesn't have to do with the clutch/pressure plate or any of that happy stuff. It's with the fuel.
Now when I use my back tank the truck works good. But when I switch to my front it's almost like the truck is being starved for fuel. It'll rev right up in nuetral, it's just when you are driving it won't go the speed that it does when I have the rear tank on.
Now something else it does is make a nasty knocking sound near the drivers side of the engine. I'm pretty sure my front tank is just starving the engine of fuel.
But what could it be? Where is the fuel filter at? Are there 2 fuel pumps? Also how easy is it to replace the fuel filter?
