Heating issues on 99 Expedition

My mothers Expeditions heater isn’t working. I replaced Thermostat and did a flush of the heater core. When moving the climate dial I can hear the blender door moving and feel more forced air when in the full cold position. So I’m pretty confident the blender door is working. One weird thing I notice is that the ac compressor keeps trying to click on every 30 seconds. I’m stumped, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I believe that the AC is automatically engaged if in the defrost mode to help dry the air going to the windshield.
Is it in the defrost mode?

Go take it for a drive on the highway. Often after flushing the heater core gets air bound and the high speed drive moves the coolant fast enough to push the air out. I trust you've felt the 2 heater hoses that go through the firewall and they're not very hot?
