Anyone who had them have thoughts on whether the Ford or Under Cover brands would be strong enough to hold a mini air compressor around 5lbs?
I'm sure you'd be OK with 5 pounds. But as stated earlier I'm just not impressed with them. In fact, the one I had is NOT going into my new truck. Not a quality piece in my opinion and it gets in the way of a tonneau cover latch. In fact I think I'll put on FB Marketplace for free. Otherwise it'll take up space forever.
I have the original Undercover version and its flimsy, so I'm sure the 4th shift version from factory #11687 is either identical or just as good. I actually like mine a lot for keeping some hand tools, gloves and bungee cords handy.
The knock off's literally look identical if the pictures are accurate.
Can't say with 100% certainty because I haven't seen them side by side. But maybe the knock off company makes them and Ford just brands them.
Was never a fan of the one I had and recently put it on FB Marketplace for free. It was gone in an hour.
Yeah I have one passenger-side Swing Out brand case. It's fine; I keep jumper cables, my gooseneck ball, and some other random stuff in it. If I didn't have it I probably wouldn't miss it, it's not remarkable in any way, it does just what you'd think. The only problem I've had is the decal with the logo eventually fell off between sun / snow / washing.
A little but not bad. If you install one on the drivers side it does block your bed light switch and 5th wheel plug in. I have one on the passenger side and it is good for lighter stuff and a small amount of tools.
