You mean a work topper? ARE, Leer and most of the major manufs will do an aluminum work style topper. Check locally, shipping is severe.

how are those slide in toppers with keeping the elements out? i recall hearing some folks complain that dust and such find their ways into the enclosure. how's your's?

i would be hauling electronic gear, and already have experience with cargo van's, i'm just thinking of what a p/u could do.

ARE and leer are top of the line covers, you'll pay a premium for them but you'd be hard pressed to get a better sealing one. That said, they are only as good as the seals for keeping dust out. You will need to invest in some other products too, such as a tailgate seal and some caulk to seal up the front weep holes, and you will probably want to double up on the topper tape during install.

If you don't seal up the bed, dust will get in and it will not be the topper's fault. With sensitive equipment, I'd recommend a bedrug to seal out a lot of contaminates and cushion your equipment.

thank you. just what i was needing to find out. it was hard enough trying to find these manufacturers, with all the lingo of bed cap, or bed insert. but is there another resource online with more info? or perhaps just a visit to a dealer is in order.

OR maybe i should just stick to a cargo van.

A truck is going to take a little more effort, but you will have isolation from your equipment (much fewer french fries on important stuff.) I don't know of any resources beyond those who have first hand experience. Check out BedRug and Trail Seal.
