A new development!
I have had enough Diesel Fuel and oil in the valley for many years that you could swim in it. If it did not catch on fire after three years..... I stopped worrying about the 'heat' and/or 'spark'.... Yes, I finally tracked down and plugged all the leaks and cleaned it all up and out.
I remember this photo from years back. Can't remember if it came off this site or another. At the time, it was said to be a block heater cord short.
So a thought occurred to me I had to pull the passenger battery and tray the other day to get to the horn mounting bolt, I was curious if i had not tightened down the battery cables , sure enough they were loose, so pulled them apart , little baking soda paste to clean it all up put it back together and shows proper charging 14.1 running down the road after start up
Note to self: finish things up even when your buddies show up to help drink your beer!
I "usually" put blue or green painters tape on ANYTHING I loosen or remove from service in the truck. The parts I can actually remove, I put in a small bag and label the bag. Things like battery cables, power steering lines, etc... They get painters tape. This helps me remember "hey you, connect this thing before starting the truck". It works well for me as I can look around once I think I am done with the task and quickly notice something in the valley that I forgot.
Both charging voltages are what you would expect from the different situations. So, it appears your alternator and charging system is back to 100% and I commend you for isolating the issue and resolving it in short order.
