Cab mounts questions

Hey
I recently bought new cab mounts to replace the mostly nonexistent ones on my truck. The type I bought are not the best ones, but they were the only ones available at the time, and with some reinforcements I believe they’re going to be fine.

I am getting to the point now where they are almost ready to install, and I wanted to ask if anyone here has used this kind of mounts, what type of reinforcement is needed, and how much to trim away from them before welding them to the floor…

The type of mounts I have…

…and the floor it needs to install to!

Well you almost need to double that style up. They tend to crack all around where the rubber mount sits. Now, for welding them, I would wait till you can set the cab back onto the frame so you can line up everything. Good luck sir, you will figure it out I am sure.

yeah, that’s kind of what I have heard. I will do that, and hopefully it’ll last for a long time. It’s never going to have a very hard life again, so I am hoping that it’ll be ok. As far as waiting to weld them on, I’d rather not if at all possible. I would like to get it all done while I have the cab off, and laying on its side… maybe I can lift the cab in place, and just tack them… hmmm, I’ll have to think about that

I guess you could take your measurements off the frame mounts and then transfer those to the cab referencing the rear mount? Just a thought. Here are my thought for stiffening the mounts;
1) Cut a piece of 1/4" steel plate to fit inside where the hole is for the mount.
2) Use 1/8" steel plate on the inside of the vertical sides.

Weld them in and together so the is transferred to the cab.

Here are the places inside the mount to add material.

Doing this should make them last a long time. I hope this helps, just my thoughts.
