Just picked up a 1970 F250 CS 390 after being away for a while! Looks like she needs a couple new cab mounts up front. From what I'm reading the Carpenter or the Carolina Classic mounts are good. But, Looks like the Carolina mounts are less expensive-anybody know if they changed anything recently? Can anybody recommend anyone in KS/MO area to weld in new mounts?
I can't vouch for Carolina Classics cab mounts but i can vouch for Flashback F100's cab mounts (link below), DC's cab mounts are the very same cheap flimsy overseas mounts that nearly every other vendor sells e.g. JBG, BOTP, NPD, LMC, etc.
I just installed the mounts that dennis Carpenter offers.
I see DC now sells the american made mounts, a few years back (8-10?) they were selling the tiawanese made mounts that everyone else sells, thanks for the pic.
Dc seems to be selling alot of the better parts nowadays.I did not have to modify the dc cab mounts in any way. Removed the old ones and the new ones fell into place like they were a genuine ford part.im so glad i did not go with the el cheapo ones. If you were closer id give u a hand changing yours.
Thanks for the advice, Probably will order from DC-but need to get a welding rig and some experience or find some extra cash, it doesn't look like its gonna be cheap to get this work done by somebody else! Nothing ever is anymore.
I wish I did more research before I bought my cab mounts I got them from LMC I wasn't impressed at all with them the fit sucked and the metal was kind of thin next time I get any sheet metal I'll be trying DC or flashback f100's I've heard a lot of good about them
