It finally happened... the dirty thieves got my catalytic converter off my '99 F250 V10. So much for thinking I was in a protected enough neighborhood. On the bright side, I have the right insurance to cover the replacement at no cost to me! With that being said, does anyone have any experience in theft prevention devices/shields for the cat converter. I'd like to be sure it's protected after getting it replaced and not give those low lifes a second payday. I've seen a couple different options online from the shields that look similar to skid plates to those wire cable cages (cat clamp specifically). I'm leaning towards the cat clamp wire cable system personally just because I should be able to install that myself no problem, but just wanted to see what anyone else has done to protect their cat's and what they think of them?
Unfortunately my 99 F250 V10 was stolen, a bunch of stuff ripped off and the catalytic converter cut out. Luckily like you the insurance covered it. I was able to have the body shop install Jimmy Jammers in the front doors. I'll install the rears myself when I get the opportunity. Alarm with a proximity sensor might be assist in deterrence.
I've seen them in the past always thought about getting one, just never pulled the trigger on that decision. They've been around for a while. It at least at a minimum makes a good deterrent and would make it take way longer to get the converter off to give me enough time to get out there and swing a bat at them or something

Thanks in advance everyone
I have a 2015 f150 with a set of long tube headers and high flow cats. I did notice when i did have to cut some sections of the pipes when installing. The 304 stainless chewed up my recipricating saws blades in a hurry and it took a long time to cut through. Pluss they were 100 bucks each. Granted you will need to tune the truck but extra ponies and a awesome sound was a great bonus. And if they do manage to cut them off. They arent worth crap for scrap so they will have wasted thier time.
Its not a option for everybody. But its what i did to help stop it from happening.
Holy zombie thread... But I will contribute. You can read the details here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...converter.html
but to sum it up you are using a motion sensor and relays to trigger the door open to set off the alarm.
