I am not man enough to shoot them with a gun capable of that.
Additionally; I have been on the receiving end of "random bullets" before. You NEVER forget that feeling, and you would NEVER risk putting another person in that position.
. . so I'm at least as fanitical about range safety as I am the preventative maintenence on my truck (which is plum whacko by all accounts but mine).

GEEMANY Ryan, *no wonder* you automatically though of "lost" bullets hitting people!!
But you're right; you get good at sporting clays with a single projectice weapon and you'll seldom miss any thing - any how.
I use my .45 with an ever so slightly lighter self-defense load (I get about an extra 50 rounds per thousand loaded from the same amount of powder) to lessen the muzze flash (actually, the gas ball that clouds fast follow up shots).
. . the best arch you could muster by hand would toss that bullet about 1/2 mile maximum. Oh, and seriously, I pass on the flyers unless it was the good old days at the Key Largo range (guess where that is). There, open water is the bullet catcher for the sporting clay field, and you can see no less than 2 or three miles.
I was also shooting at the lake,,,my buddy owns some land bordering the lake, and he's got the only access to the lake, its great. Well anyhow, we set up a thrower on the hill above the lake, and shoot down at it. So, no chance of stray bullets hitting anyone with this. Normally i wouldn't recomend it....
No matter what ya shoot them with, there ain't much left of them, they are hard to clean, fryin' roastin' nor boilin help much on the taste side either.
Originally posted by esso I go around and pick up the chipped ones place them on a bank and make pistol targets out of them.
Next time get a very brave buddy to roll them past you fast - like skipping a rock on the water - only sideways. Try rolling them from varying angles relative to you (the shooter).
Make absolutely certain you do not endanger any humans in the process. Paint lines on the ground if you have to, to mark "in bounds" and "out of bounds" so the buddy rolling the targets knows where the heck to stay away from.
It is a whole BUNCH of fun - and waaaay good hand/eye coordination practice as well!
