Some thing I made that is usefull to me and the buds is a potato gun. This thing kills time, causes laughter and generally causes the wife to stay in the house and out of the garage. What more could a guy ask for

is is combustion or air??
i made one out of steel pipe (1st one was pvc but i found a video of a pvc pipe bursting from pressure and scared the ***** outta me) that runs on compressed air it is 6 feet long, with a 4 inch diameter air chamber going to a 1/2 inch solenoid valve that is controlled by a little switch i made, and has a 2 inch diameter barrel thats 2 feet long, can shoot a potato 600 feet at 125 psi! its fun to shoot trees with, no potato is ever left.!
where'd you get that solenoid valve from? I've been looking for one like that for my spudgun.

I started with aquanet too. do you use a spark ignitor off of a bbq? That's what I use. After a ton of firing, the laquer in aquanet starts to gum things up, so I use propane now.
Furniture polish works well and doesnt seem to gum anything up.
Look for the cheapest kind with the most warning labels
Lemon scented smell umm different when it burns.
has anybody calculated the maximum velocity of the average potatoe as they are a non-uniform shape and consequently must develop a drag coefficient proportional to their velocity at some point they will break apart ??? I wish somebody wuld build a Catapault to throw old Cheby's back to the dealer that sold them. fd
I found with my cannon that Starting Fluid works much better than anything else. Burns clean and explosively.
Here's an idea for you guys:
Buy and avocado or 10 and have your wife make guacamole.
Take the pit, wrap it in tissue until it fits snug in the barrel.
Fire it into the side of your neighbor's truck!
No, not really...I saw this done to a junk Ford Tempo and it ripped a hole in the sheet metal.
I also found that if you coat the inside of the barrel with some vegetable oil, the spud gets stuck less and it wont blow up in your face as easy. Learned that trick from my physics teacher in high school....

I know it's not a "spud" gun, but I just watched a show on TV last night about "punkin chunkin". The winner shot a pumpkin just shy of 4000 feet. Totally outrageous.
