This is what
In the process of installing the sway bar on my '65 F100 that I got off a '78(my best guess for the year most of the truck at the wrecking yard I got it off of was gone).
Found this under the PS lower spring seat. There was not one on the DS.
Is it an Alignment Shim?
Not reinstalling it due to it not really fitting under the spring seat from the '78 and the original '65 spring seat that is contoured does not sit flush over the new sway bar "C" bracket that the end links mount to. It is contoured to fit over the Radius Arm, using it under the '78 spring seat with the flat bottom would effectively make it twice as thick.
I don't know its exact purpose for being there, seems like it would effectively raise the spring a bit? But there was one on my 65 when I rebuilt the fr5ont end. I stayed original on that part of the build and put it back where I got it.
I seems like it would effectively raise the spring a bit?.
That's what I thought too. I was going to put it back until I realized the combo of, the orig spring seat not really working with the sway bar "C" bracket and that that piece(shim?) is contoured to fit over the radius arm would effectively have twice the lifting effect when sitting on a wider flat bracket.
