2000 5.0 valve train noise
Just bought a 2000 Mountaineer with a 5.0 and 34,000 miles. Been getting a noise that sounds like a lifter not pumping up, but also noticed that when on the highway with the engine turning at about 1900 rpm, when I let off the gas, the noise diminishes but doesn't totally go away. I thought that it might be a wrist pin or rod, so I shorted out the cylinders, but got no change in the noise. Brought it back to the dealer and they supposedly changed a left side lifter, and said the cam and rest of the valve train was ok, but when they completed the job, the noise was still there. Anyone know of any issues with this engine?
