Ok I have searched the site and did a google search for the schematics for the 460 oil passages. Does anyone have an idea where to find them? I have a funky issue with my engine that I am trying to troubleshoot. The issue is dealing with valve train noise. I drove my truck to work one day, 70 miles round trip, then changed the oil. After I changed the oil the valve train started making noise like I had a bad hydraulic lifter or the roller rockers were out of adjustment. I remember hearing that Fram oil filters sometimes starve the engine. I changed the oil filter back to the ford one and still had the noise. Popped off my valve covers and found a rocker out of adjustment. Reset the valve train and found the #5 exhaust lifter didn't have any "cushion". I thought I had a collasped lofter and changed them all out with new Crane anti-pump ups. After the 6th time adjusting them the noise was gone. I heard a tick coming from the #4 cylinder and saw I had a burned exhaust gasket and changed it. All the noise was finally gone. Drove the truck around the town for a little bit with my son, he loves to drive really slow with the "blub blub blub" sound. Can't say I don't blame him though. I got on it to blow the cobwebs out of the exhaust and wouldn't you know the valve train noise is back. So now I am wondering if I have a restriction in the oil passages somewhere. Any ideas?
I'm thinking camshaft lobes? Especially if you did not break in the new lifters. Bring this question over to the 460forddotcomm site and I am sure you will find an answer.
