I bought the Misimoto cold side a couple of years ago on a Black Friday sale. It went on nicely, Sence then I have seen other brands that look very nice. Same idea but fewer joints to deal with. These new pipes replace the plastic connection that is prone to fail.
Just noticed mine split too, but also appears to have some blow-out from it underneath the hood. I'm a concerned its oil which could be a sign of a dying turbo, but I'm not a mechanic
Thank you for all the responses. I still have plenty of warranty left and will reach out to the dealership. If they cant fix within the next few days, ill look into the aftermarket suggestions.
Thanks again!
SPE has 2 versions (the cheaper one is kinda hard to find on their site lol), both better then OEM. if you cant get it fixed soon.
@ymsmiley don't worry about the oil. There's always oil in the system from the crankcase vent. I replaced the factory pipe with an H&S before the factory pipe had a chance to blow. HSM cold side intake pipe
Good to know, thanks. Just going to have them replace it under the ESP, but I just picked it up 2 days ago for something unrelated and don't know how they would've missed that
I replaced mine on my 22 to prevent this from happening. I have seen photos of the stock hose blown (like above) and photos of the hard plastic end (maybe on older models?) at the throttle body broke. I ended up going with an S&B CAC pipe. Not only does it look nicer, but the aluminum end is much better/stonger than the plastic end, and the silicone hose on the S&B has way more reinforcement than the stock tube. I went with S&B because of all the great things I have read about them, and I plan on adding more of their stuff to my truck! I just added the CAI yesterday and will be adding their fuel tank within the next year or so...
