I have a new to me 97F-250 HD. It makes a whirring sound when accelerating or under load.
Every thing functions fine shifts fine.
Something I should worry about or just drive it?
Sound or video clip would be great.
Standard or automatic?
During a test drive, on my old truck, under load it started to whistle, I thought it was just a vacuum leak under the hood.
Turns out it was the exhaust.
Small exhaust leaks, or plugged cats can make more of a "phphphpffffff" noise under load.
A whirring or whirling noise could be something spining.
Mine was because the previous owner cut the air pump (smog pump) underneath the truck. Mine sounds like a trombone sometimes because of how the lines were cut.
