Have a 2005 Mariner, The alarm has went off 3 times in the last couple of months. It's a factory key fob and keypad on the door. 2 times it went off in plain sight with no one near it and today it went off in my garage. The keys are hanging on key hook. Today it wasn't locked since it was in the garage. Any way a dealer can program it for no alarm function? I'm pretty sure my neighbors are not to happy with me. Help
Ok Thanks, I'll have to take it to dealer since I don't have the scanning equipment. The weird thing is it only happens when I'm home. Is it possible that someone else has a fob that's sending signal? Have a Bank employee parking lot about 150' away from my garage? I will try to get into dealer.
Well, I went to dealer that sold it original that does most of my basic service work. They were not sure if they would be able to do anything since it was so old. They are not the same as when vehicle was new. The name has changed to a GM dealer, so they sell Lincoln, Ford, Dodge, Jeep, Chevrolet, apple pie perhaps. Took the Mercury to a town a little further away that I bought my SD from. Was only in waiting room for short time and it was diagnosed as fault in passenger front door switch had set off theft the last 8 times. I have appointment 12/27 to be replaced. OT but the dealer that is fixing it is the same dealer that supplied brand new 71 LTD's to school for my drivers ed class. I still own a 72 LTD. If you find a good dealer stick with them.
Well today was the appointment, dropped off at dealer last night. Dealer called this morning said they didn't have the part and wouldn't be in till Friday. I had already paid $60 for diagnosis, and it was to be another $200 for part and install. Dealer also said this morning that there had been some price increases and it was going to be $600 now. I believe my high opinion of the dealer just changed. Going to pick up the car without the work being done..
It could be that they investigated further and found the harness is broken where the wires pass from the body to the door.
I'm thinking they quoted replacement of the harness instead of repairing the wire.
