I used a one quart pristine Harley Davidson oil can from the 50's and it seems to work.

If you run Evans Waterless Coolant you won't need an overflow tank...AND there are many other benefits as well.

Figure 5% of cooling system capacity. i.e. 1 qt for a 20 qt system.

Evans expands as much or more, so an expansion tank is still useful (required if you do a recovery-type system)

Evans Powersports Waterless Coolant is not applicable for a car/truck...the High Performance variant is appropriate. Quoting the Evans recommendation for the powersports variant is not relevant to this discussion.
Since there is no water in the Evans product there is no conversion to vapor at 212 degrees F...in fact, Evans does not vaporize until it reaches 375 degrees F. In a water-based system, an overflow tank is needed to compensate for all the heat that the coolant absorbs after the engine is shut off which raises the temp above boiling...this does not occur with a waterless coolant.

I am using a small cylinder type stainless steel tank that I purchased from Champion radiator when I purchased the radiator and shroud.

It's about 22 to 24 inches long and about 2 to 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Works well.

I had selected this one from Canton Racing Products as it has both expansion and recovery tanks. It is cheaper at Summit Racing.
