So I got in my truck this morning and when I opened the door I noticed the courtesy lights under the dash didn’t come on. My first thought was a dead battery. But I turned on the key and it fired right up. Then I noticed my radio(aftermarket) and dash clock were also not on. Headlights and dash lights all work. So I checked the fuses and they were good but I even swapped them out just to be safe. Still nothing. Won’t be able to get out there with a test light and meter until tomorrow but thought I would ask y’all where I should start or if y’all know what could cause just these to all go out at one time. As always thanks In advance, y’all are always so helpful.
I am told 85 & 86 are pretty close to each other and I think that link also has the 86 info you may be looking for.
Now what I have seen posted is a issue with the IGN switch (electrical) down low on the column.
They post that over time it does not make contact with all the points inside (wear out) and sometimes things will not work then they will then stop.
The other thing I would look at are the fuse links if 1 might be burnt out.
Keep us posted

I see you have already checked the fuses. I do believe that the courtesy lighting and clock are on the same fuse. In my truck, the clock is integrated into the radio. Radio itself powered from ignition switch but clock function is full time hot.

Thank you I will check the ignition switch. I’m sure it’s the original so it could be bad. Also where would the fuse links be located. Electrical work like this is not in my wheel house. Lol

Fuse links are out at the starter relay / solenoid.
They are the wires on the large stud the positive battery cable is bolted to.
If you have a test light that can go through the insulation choke for power where that link connects to the main wire.
If good you should get power there if not keep moving back to the stud checking for power as it may have a bad connection where it blots.

So turns out the wire that feeds power to the under hood light had a bare spot and was contacting metal. So once I found that and got it fixed I replaced all fuses again and everything works now. Thank you all for the help and advice.
