Valve cover ID

I was told the truck didn't have the original engine it it before I bought it. I really don't care.

Any guesses??
The carburetor, 2bbl is off a full size 1966 Ford, possibly a Galaxy or an LTD.
The plumbing the the choke heater is correct so its possible that the carb matches the engine.
I've seen these valve covers before but not sure when and where

I was surprised to see that the plug wires came on an engine from the factory and they're not a replacement set.
Maybe by 76’ the rounded covers were gone?
Did the heavy duty FT engines have flat valve covers?
It is very possible that you have a car block that someone slapped truck dressing on.
My truck has what I think is a 1964 car 390.
"FE pent roof shaped valve covers introduced in 1965, used thru 1976, have holes for oil cap/smog valve.
1958/64 FE engines have rounded valve covers without holes for smog valve/oil cap. These engines have an oil fill tube at the right front."
There were other styles, some say "Powered by Ford" or "...Mercury" or aluminum ones etc, but from '65 on they were "pentroof", like the ones in your pictures.
If those are original, they would be from 1966 or later when Ford started painting everything blue.
In '65 they would have gold in a pickup. Others might have had gold or vermillion or some other color depending on actual displacement and if in a Ford or Mercury etc.
AFAIK from seeing all the FT pics in the Large Truck forum, the FT motors used the pentroof design. A pickup motor is not an FT. They do have lower compression via the swapping of pistons from other engines to achieve low, low, low compression. (390 car pistons in a 360, 410 pistons in pickup 390s)

Than you very much, you answered my question.
I remember Ford used to paint their engines black and the color of the valve covers and air cleaner identified the engine.
