I got my 3rd Moderna today. My occupation qualifies for the booster shot, and it is strongly advised. I got there about 12:15, then spent about 15 minutes looking for parking. I gave up. I parked by the rear service door which is suppose to be for emergency vehicles, commercial loading, and staff. Once I got to the screening area where they check ID and fill out forms, I got a shot within minutes. There's a waiting area where they monitor patients for 15 minutes after the shot. Several nurses and a doctor on hand. A paramedic crew in case anyone needed to be rushed to an emergency room. They are suppose to engage the patients, so that they can observe your behavior and responses. The doc came around to see how I was doing. I did not have beads of sweat on my forehead, I wasn't involuntarily twitching, I was not unbuttoning or removing any clothing, my face wasn't flush, my pupils weren't dilated or constricted, I wasn't slurring my speech, I wasn't drooling, I didn't lose equilibrium and fall over...... Oh, the erection. That's normal. I always get that way around lunch time if I haven't eaten yet.
Reading something online. Enjoying a beverage. Began laughing with the liquid in my mouth, then choking. Beverage sprayed all over the monitor and keyboard. I was coughing, trying to clear my airway. Still laughing. My head slammed forward onto the edge of the desk. Now I have a 1-1/14" gash across my forehead. I'm bleeding. I'll need stitches.
VA was okay. However, I was unable to get either shot. The flu shot or the booster. the appointment lasted longer than expected, and the places giving the shots were closed. So I will contact the doctor and find out when I can go in. My arm wasn't sore after the second shot back when I had it done, so I doubt it will be sore after this booster.
The booster is only a half dose. Not a full dose. So symptoms may be less. But the needle is the same. So it's the same puncture wound. I didn't know that in Fresno, you have to have an appointment. Here in San Francisco, there are "drop in" clinics. Fist come, first served. Just go whenever it's convenient. If you get lucky, there's no line. I took my mother for a booster shot today. Walked right in. No waiting. But as we were leaving, the crowd started building. A line had formed, and it was growing. As I was walking away, there were a lot of people going towards the clinic. It was 3:30. All the kids getting off school. So many parents with 2 or 3 kids in tow.

I made an appointment through Kaiser. It's scheduled for December 9. Soon enough I guess. Had my flu shot at the beginning of October, and they gave me the quad valent version (4 in 1).
Happy Thursday Nor Cal. The booster shot is in a different building. I will go tomorrow when I don't have the caregiver here, and get it. The flu shot is a walk in at the main building. I will get that too. I was too tired/lazy to do it after that eye appointment yesterday. And it did not help that everything was fuzzy for a few hours after the doc had dilated my eyes.

My Dad's buddy uses Kaiser in San Mateo County. He went to a county operated vaccination clinic, and they asked if he was a Kaiser member. Not if you have private insurance. Nothing about any other organizations like Sutter. When he said yes, they told him his vaccine was at Kaiser, and that he could not have a county shot. Kaiser told him that they didn't have enough supplies at that time, and that he should go to a county operated vaccination clinic. In San Francisco, nobody that I know of was asked if they belonged to a HMO or PPO.

We're on Kaiser, but also on Medicare. When they had the vaccine clinics at the county fair grounds, that's where we went for our first two shots (Moderna). When we got to the part on the form where it asked about insurance, we just checked the "Medicare" box.
I guess we can do that again for the booster shot, but we're in no hurry, and Kaiser is doling them out in short order. That said, I am due for a couple of other shots, and I can get them as my regular poke and prodded routine.
