First let me introduce myself. My name is Donnie And have never been on any forums. I have a 92 Ford F-150xlt 4x4 5.0 engine. I built a 95 HO mustang engine with E303 cam, bored out and head work, 70mm throttle body. Always has run rich and can't lean it out. Recently changed complete harness under the hood and 95 F 150 pcm. Did not change the harness to the E40d tranny. This was done to upgrade to Mass Air because the speed density setup would not adequately control the modified engine and I would also gain MPG. I've been turning wrenches for forty years but my week spot is electrical. My problem. The OD switch quit working before the harness swap so I decided to finally fix it. Replaced switch and everything but for ****s and grins I checked the supply plug to the switch. I'm hot on two of the three wires and that makes no sense to me. I have R/y hot and W/g that is also hot. Can't find a good diagram of this wiring. Anyone know where the OD switch wiring comes from? I/m thinking the tranny? I'm sure it controls the lockup torque converter solenoid. any help would be appreciated
Does your 95 ECM have the E4OD shift information? Post up the 4 digit catch code on the ECM, possibly somebody will have a listing. Conanski, Subford or Rla2005 are good with this.
You can most likely get the CD truck maintenance manual on line for free. Just look up F150 1995 CD manual
Forums also offer copies to download I believe. Maybe the Electrical diagram CD ?
You dont have enough vacuum from that E cam, to make SD happy, is why your running rich, with that lumpy idle you want, your spitting, raw fuel out the tail pipe, why and what did you change the harness to, did the 95 have MAF? and your saying the 92 had the E4OD in it already, then the new question would also be, did the 95 F150 PCM, also have the E4OD, or some other transmission in it?
Not likely a 1995 F150 5.0L with MASS air PCM is for a E4OD. Most likely a 4R70W transmission PCM.
But the wiring for a 1995 OD switch comes from the the PCM and the the fuse panel, fuse #17.
The R/Y wire is power from fuse #17 and when the PCM grounds the W/LG it turns on the OD LED.

Will this setup exceed that? If so what should I get rid of?
And a thermostat as well would a 180° thermostat be better than a stock 195°?
No.
Any changes to cam, heads, rockers, valves, pushrods, etc. you MUST check PTV clearance, and get the correct pushrod length for your engine that is not stock, or other wise modified with non-stock parts.
Lowering the thermostat to 180 is not better than stock 193.
If you have not done 302/351 head upgrades in the past, I would not recommend GT40p heads, since the spark plug angles are different, and they were made for a shorter deck height block than the 351. Your looking at custom exhaust with the GT40-p head.
Haven't been to a car show in a while, but I couldn't imagine saying out loud, 'Yeah, I got the "P"-heads installed...".
From my 1997 manual but it has your E40D tramsmission electrical connections It shows red spliced to red and gry red spliced to gry/red. There should be Codes also to read ?
Thanks subford. You got me thinking so I pulled the PCM and it is for a 4R70 tranny. I crawled under this truck and identified the E4OD tranny. Not sure what is going on with that. Maybe the guy who had it put in the E4OD, I'm not sure. That may be why it was setting in the junkyard who knows. Now all I have to do is get the right PCM and I should be golden
I had a ‘94 Bronco (5.0L/E4OD) with mass air but according to what I’ve seen in here that didn’t happen very often or at all in F-150s. Trucks got the 4R70W instead.
I don’t know if there is a difference but do you really have an E4OD wire harness? There are wiring differences in the connectors between ‘92 & ‘95 so did you re-pin the connectors?
That is a good question as it was a junkyard truck. I'm going to go back and get the vin off the truck when I can. Hopefully it hasn't met the crusher yet. I will repin it if necessary. I don't know if the owner of the truck changed the tranny or replaced the PCM
