passenger door lock issues

passenger door lock issues
my truck started having a problem with the pdl it wont lock or unlock unless you keep trying to unlock it with the remote but it does make a sound like it is trying to also same for the door lock/unlock switch is this a common problem? i have to open the door by pulling on the inside door handle to open it any ideas TIA

Off topic a bit because not a ford, but look at what we have to deal with on our 370z luxury sports cars. About a $300 fix. Then again, these trucks cost more than my sports car by about double, but it's some BS that shouldn't break, and shouldn't be so ridiculously expensive to DIY repair if it does.
