Tried tape myself failed. Youtube fella gave great advice after his taper failed. 3M window adhesive 08693 AND primer 08682. Must use both. Get on Amazon. Worked absolutely great. I got great advice......pass it on. You will not be disappointed worked super no more issue.
Mine came loose as well. I "fixed" twice and went professional 3rd. I learned something each time. 1st time used permatex and clear gorilla tape. Slapped it on and had window actually pull away at the top. Didn't realize at 1st. Hence 2nd time.
2nd time used 3m tape and not enough permatex so it loosened up and got an ever so faint whistle.
Pulled apart for glass shop to fix. Did multiple dry fits and noticed when the slightly bowed track is sitting correctly it sits flush.
I opened window and realized the frame around the opening and that the track must sit flush with this.
The auto window dealer used a primer on window and track. Then applied their window adhesive caulk.
Totally silent now. When taking yours off dry fit with window open and you will see what I mean.
I picked up both per your advice. The primer came in first. Looks like black paint. I'm assuming the primer is painted on, then you put the seal and then you put the sealant on, correct?
Fixed mine last weekend. I used urethane windshield adhesive and it worked beautifully. I’ve had the truck for nearly a year and wind noise was pretty loud as the top track had started to come away from the window keeping the top of the slider from making contact with the seals. Previous attempts at repair meant there was a pretty thick layer of adhesive and tape so even pressing the window toward the seals, it wasn’t making proper contact. Had a refrigerator standing up in the bed so it was catching wind and pressing more on the window. Eventually the track came away fully and started slapping against the static glass. This was good news, I was worried about breaking the track while removing it, so the wind did the rest of the work for me. Scraped everything off of the track and the window with a razor scraper and used some $14 windshield adhesive from Amazon. https://a.co/d/1XRTeTx Everything wiped down with rubbing alcohol. Thin bead on the track, and positioned the track where it needed to go. I used a quick clamp at the center, with the window open and the clamp extending out the opening. The ends I used an adjustable shower curtain rod on one side wedged between the front seat headrest and the track, and the other side I used the hard extensions for my shop vac. You can adjust the pressure by reclining the seat. In my opinion, don’t waste your time with tape, go straight for the urethane.
How many of you take the time to report these type of issues to NHTSA.gov for a recall? I just think that Ford should be accountable for this failure and fix it on their dime. Reading this one thread makes you realize what a problem this is. I appreciate everyone's insight on how to fix this.
