Remove Backup Sensors?

I'm looking at getting a new rear bumper and have the option to keep or omit the backup sensors. I would like to get rid of them.... Is it as simple as just unplugging them and that's it? Or do I have to do something to tell the truck they aren't there anymore?

My sensors in my two trucks (2006 and 2011 F350's) died frequently.

once the warranties were up, I just did not replace them when they died again; just left the dead ones in there.

I would get the backup message whenever I put it in reverse, but other than that there was no issue.

if you remove the sensors, maybe just tape/seal up the exposed connector.

I was thinking of just removing the sensors and taping the wires up somewhere, didn't know if the truck would freak out though with the sensors missing

If the bumper has the option for the sensors, why wouldn't you put them back in and keep everything functioning?
