Random egr low flow; then random 123, 301 code today.
2016 6.7 350. 144000. Meticulous maint, fluids/ filters on schedule. Run diesel kleen every fill up. No CEL on any of the below. It derates and won’t boost all the way so I know something is wrong and plug in. About 3 weeks ago it derated, no cel. Plugged in on the highway-low egr flow pending. Cleared the pending code and boost came back no problem. Today right after I fueled with truck on high idle the whole time it derated with no cel when I left pump- but could have been there before I fueled. I was in traffic and not boosting so I don’t know. Plugged in on the highway got po123, po301 and the 1693 with those. Couldn’t clear on the highway. 10 minutes later stopped. Ran across scale (never shut truck down, idled for about 5 minutes waiting) the 3 codes cleared. Then the low egr flow came on. Cleared it- it never came back on. suggestions where to start? It might be idling a little rougher than usual sometimes.
The egr cooler is almost stopped up and needs to be cleaned is my thinking. This will entail removing the egr cooler and rebuilding it with new internals.
Thanks for the responses. Do y’all think the clogged cooler is causing the turbo low pressure and throttle sensor codes? The truck has been run like a scalded dog for the last 100k miles with meticulous maint; it’s been my hotshot truck. It does high idle ALOT as I have a bunk and crashed in it 2-3 nights a week; I still camp in it on my outings. But I slow idled a lot until I got the high idle which at 120k. Not surprised about the cooler, but the other codes were unexpected. Just put the bed back on and retired it for my personal truck. Only problem ever with this truck has been the def module once. I do all my own work. So I’ll put the cooler and valve on my list.
