Code P0402, excessive flow

My '05 is throwing the P0402 excessive flow code. I have been contemplating disconnecting the egr. Will the disconnect solve this problem, and to disconnect all i have to do is pull the plug right? I also have the bullydog PMT installed on the truck.

It is likely EGR related. Have you unplugged it?

No Haven't unplugged it yet, wanted to find out if it would correct the problem. Pulling the plug would stop the flow so i figured it would clear that code? Wanted to be sure all i had to do was simply pull the plug. Also i was wondering if the egr needs to be plugged in and used sometime down the road, would there be any negative effects from having it non-operational.

Unplugged the egr and ran it today, No improvement in performance. Did notice it running quieter, but only peeked at 21psi for boost. W/ it plugged in it peeks at 27 or 28. Also looked at the engine build date (red sticker on valve cover?) Says '05 noticed most posters in here in the egr thread have earlier engine build dates than the year of the truck. Could my engine have been replaced before i bought it?
