Hitch adapter/reducer sleeves

My 21 450 came with two adapters that reduce the 3" receiver to 2.5" and then to 2". I have never used either of them as my b&w tow & stow has the 3" shank. Yesterday I needed to move a bushhog and was going to use one of my old 2" receiver bars. Got the reducer sleeves out and the 2.5" pin hole lines up perfectly but the 2" is off by half a hole towards the front where the lip is. If it were off towards the back I would just slide it out a touch to align and use it. Not a big deal. I will get the plasma cutter out and enlarge the hole to align. Probably a complete one off situation but I wanted to share my experience so others don't get caught like I was.
I also didn't realize the holes aren't round but oblong. Is that a common thing?
Sorry I didn't take any pics but I will when I get back to the shop where I left them.
Like I said probably a one in a million deal that would only happen to me.

I would NOT enlarge the hole. I would try to modify the length of the insert.

interesting that you got inserts/reducers. my 2021 F350 came with no reducers. i'm just happy to have gotten it.

That isn’t possible because hole is half a hole too short from the front side with the lip. If it was off at the back I would do exactly as you described.
Sorry I should have been more specific.
I have edited the post above to be more specific.

Get the Curt 45408 reducer. I had the same problem with my factory reducers.
