Has anyone installed a camper shell, topper, canopy, whatever you call it where you're from..... that was for a truck WITHOUT a step tailgate, to a truck WITH a step tailgate?
I still have this old camper shell in my back yard that was on my old red 2004 F250. First pic.
It did not have a step tailgate. I'm wondering if it'll fit my 2015 that does have a step tailgate.... and if I can get a new "lip" or something to cover/seal the step. Like the one circled in the second pic.
Has anyone here done something similar? Or am I better off getting a new(er) shell made for my year model and step tailgate?
I would call leer or whoever and see if you can just buy that trim piece, it is the same cap if you look at it there is just a plastic piece screwed to the underside of the window, if you could get the trim piece and screw it on there I be tiy would be ready to roll-

Yeah, I thought the shells look very similar. I'll have to swing by the local truck cap/topper/camper dealer and see what parts they can get.
Anyone know for sure................. Other than the step, the bed sides are the same length, width, curve, etc right? Between 99-07 and 08-10 and 11-16?
FWIW I was told by my local Leer dealer that they could replace the back glass with one made for a step tailgate on my particular shell model (Leer 100XQ). If I recall correctly the cost was about $400 installed. I have not had that done, but probably would in hind sight. The back glass has worn a groove in my tailgate cap plastic right where the glass meets it. It also does not seal very well like that.
