Hi, curious if any of you folks have a camper shell. Is it a standard 8' fitment? Anyone have some pics? Also, where can I obtain a tailgate for our trucks? currently I only have a fifth whee expanded metal type.

Thanks for any replies
Are you looking for an OEM tailgate or after market?
I just sold mine to a guy passing through St. Louis on the way home to Colorado. If you click the link in my sig you can see the shell. I bought it off craigslist but decided i would rather have a role up cover for what I do most often. It was handy for camping. Everything stayed dry and secure.
The link is working for me too now, Excellent diagram. I figure I'll get better use out of my truck with a shell. Any ideas on who builds shells for a 97' Long bed? I'm looking for screened and dog proof expanded metal slider/windows too.
Craigs List is a great place to look for these used. They're all pretty interchangeable, although you need to match up the height of the cab to the height of the camper shell (we call it a truck cap here in Ohio). They cab be had for less that $100 if you don't need something too fancy. I tend to prefer the fiberglass type if you're going to leave it on there most of the time, and an aluminum (because they're light weight) if you intend to have it on and off frequently.
For new, you're going to pay a lot more, but some of the better ones IMO are made by a company that is local here in NE Ohio called ARE truck caps. They make a lot of different things but most of theirs are fiberglass and not aluminum.
Used is the way to go. As Nate said, CL has canopies all day long under $500. The trouble is finding the right combo of things: it actually fits, has the options you want, color, and looks good. So that can take time.
I found a fiberglass black (matching) construction type canopy for $300. Minor cracks in paint was really all that was wrong. Side windows lift up for access, not sliding type. Not perfect, but it'll do.
Of course, if you've got $2000 to spend you can get whatever you want brand new.
