I'm hilley..... Hoping to get some help with a problem I'm having with my truck. Its a 1997 F250 light duty XLT 5.4L4X4. Put a new transfer case motor on and when I turn the switch to 4H it's going to 4L. Any help would be great on the problem... Thanks
By chance did you move the control in the transfer case or make sure that it was out of 4x4 before you place the motor on the arm or move the motor control trying to place it on the transfer case arm? I do not have the paperwork in front of me, but I remember that the control arm and motor have to be set a certain way to work correctly. Now did you splice the motor wires to hook up to the transfer case wiring? If so check your wiring. On some motors, you have to splice the new wires on after-market motors.
No I didnt move anything. My transfer case shows the 2H 4H and 4L positions under motor and it was in 2H when I put it back on. Didnt spice no wire the colors matched my hook up on the plug but I have notice they are in different places when the wires go into the motor itself than my old one was by the color wires. Would that be the problem? My old 1 My new 1
