Transfer case??
I have a '98 4.0 4X4. When I switch into 4H, the hubs lock in (suprise) just fine. But the transfer case seems to slip in and out of 4H on it's own. example: I'll switch in, go up a hill in the snow with it working, come to a stop sign, try to take off and it's out again. The light on the dash never goes out, but I can hear kind of a clunk coming from the transfer case. I haven't tried cleaning the motor yet...I've never had it off before. Truck has 105,000 miles. Works fine in 4L and 2H. Any suggestions?
