Heater Core Leak?
I BELIEVE its the heater core thats leaking-I have never had a vehicle leak like that-all of them seem to leak onto the passengers side foot well.
About 6 months ago I had my water pump and ALL hoses replaced, so sure don't suspect them.
There is no coolant anywhere else besides at the bottom of the blower motor housing in the engine compartment.
I have watched SEVERAL videos about replacing the heater core and none mentions where they discovered their leak.
Anyone had this happen?
The heater hose connections are the only things coolant related that are even remotely close to the blower motor but they're even quite a distance.
Are you sure that it's not AC dye? It's green too and a whole lot closer in proximity to the motor (the evaporator can actually be touched with the motor out).
If you decide you want to crack the box open and clean the evaporator coil and clean the drain from the inside, check out the video below.
***DISCLAIMER*** YouTube has decided to monetize videos at their freewill even if the creator has said "NO" to monetization, which I have said NO.
If you feel the desire to tear into the heater core, below are the install/removal instructions from the Ford Service Manual.
This was my first thought as well...
Supercab, is your coolant green? AC lubricant oil usually has dye in it that is also green. Hit it with a UV light if you happen to have one and see if it's florescent.
Is your leak a seep, or a gusher? If it's pouring out gallons then it's obviously not AC oil.
We were changing the serpentine belt and noticed the reddish wetness coming from the bottom of the blower motor,
We have owned the truck for over 15 years and the a/c has never been touched and blows 38* at the vents......IF there is dye in the a/c system it was put in LONG ago before we bought the truck.....
I thought it was very odd myself........
We are going to take a 200 mile trip today so I'll keep an eye on it.....
