I was at one nearby dealership a couple weeks ago to buy a small $5 part, when I told the guy I wanted to use points he said they can only be used for accessories or service. I knew from experience that he was wrong so I said I would go to the other dealer. He went in the back to ask someone, came back, admitted he was mistaken, and had been for a long time. He went on to say that they just have to be "Ford" parts to use the points. Again I knew he was wrong from reading other posts like yours but decided not say anything.
Anyway, the point of this is to say that not all parts department staff know all the ins and outs of using these points.

They were out of the Ford Performance catalog, but still your point is valid.

I'm not following you on how the catalog plays into it.... but if this guy (my local dealer) was right, people like yourself and others would not have been able to use points for aftermarket parts like you did. So obviously he was wrong (again), and I'm sure he is not the only parts slanger giving the customers false info when it comes to using points.

my point was that I’ve heard as you that you can only get parts from the standard ford accessories catalog. My dealer at least let me get them from ford performance.
