I spoke with support at MP. The tech was very helpful and I was pleased that he didn’t just yes me, he took the time to lookup some stuff I asked about, such as do the pedals need to be modded? I forgot to ask if they sourced parts like bearings from China. I’ll call CPP too.

I bought the CPP disk brake conversion kit for my 55. Any parts that were labeled were labeled Made in China. The bearings had no name brand on them, so i would assume they were also from China. Kinda sad it's so hard to get American made parts for our American made trucks.

CPP also sell separate duel master cylinder replacement kits, manual or powered options. When I got mine, CPP manual kit was not in stock so I got one from POL. (also made in China)

A few notes: The instruction say you can leave the kin pin in when drilling the new holes for the grease fitting. Do yourself a favor and remove the kin pins first, unless you have an unlimited supply of #3 drill bits. The duel master cylinder kits will move the master cylinder rearward of the access hole in the floor. I ended up getting a remote fill kit also.

Did you have to order additional hose for the remote fill kit?

The CPP remote fill kit came with a hose that you cut in half. The hose was a little bit shorter than I would have liked, but I made it work. The kit did not include any hose clamps or a way to mount the reservoir on the firewall. I had to make brackets to mount it.

Pay no attention to the fuel lines, I haven’t got around to redoing them since the decision to scrap the 3x2 setup. 😉

Thanks. I’ve got the CPP booster in the frame, and had been told about the remote reservoir. They said they had to buy extra hose since the kit only comes with 1’ of hose.

Wondering too.

I was wondering too. Did you ever get an answer Planeman182?

I just ordered the CPP kit- there is a small spot on the website that mentions price increases that I found after customer service directed me there- I went ahead and ordered the ‘complete upgrade kit’ but paid $100 more than the advertised price on the site. UPS tracking says I have 4 boxes weighing a total of 130 pounds will be here Thursday.

On a side note I’m glad I called and spent 30 minutes on hold (literally 30 minutes to get to talk to a person). I was going to get the manual master cylinder as the website said in the Ford section that it was for 1948-1956 and I have a 49F1. After talking to them it was 48-53 Chevy and 51-56 Ford. I’m glad I called

I emailed their tech support about a CPP disc brake conversion done by a previous owner. Even though I wasn’t the original purchaser, I received excellent specific help to numerous questions about the respective parts.

Hello ET812,

Down the post you will see that JPMallory answered which Master Cylinder he chose.

I got back in touch with the Techs at Speedway, worked through my application with them and bought their recommended master cylinder:
Universal Power/Manual Master Cylinder, 1 Inch Bore
Part #: 91031445
It is a low profile GM unit originally for Corvettes. Proportioning valves are adjustable:
Speedway Disc/Drum Brake Residual/Prop Valves with Fittings
Part #: 9109805

Best,
Harold

I bought the front disc / power brake conversion from CPP and had the local classic car shop mechanic install it. It was above my skillset and I needed a lift to mount booster under the cab. Anyway, they work well now, but the pedal goes way further down than it did before the conversion. When I asked the mechanic why, he said that's the most amount of pedal he could get out of the new kit. They stop really well, but I don't like the pedal going down so close to the floor. Does anyone have any advice or have dealt with this problem before? TIA

It could be the bore size on your master cylinder. Smaller bores require less effort but have more pedal travel.

Thanks. When you say "bore size", do you mean the actual outside diameter of the vacuum booster? If so, then my bore size is definitely smaller. It's one of those frame rail types that mounts under the floor. It's not near as big as ones I've seen mounted on the firewall.

Bore size refers to the Inside diameter of your Master Cylinder.
