I have a 51 F1 I am restoring and I am Looking into upgrading my brake system. I am purchasing a 9” rear end and doing a disc brake conversion on that. So it will have all around disc brakes. What master cylinder should I go with and what else would I need for my conversion? Also doing all new brake lines.
Jerry, CPP has disk brake conversion kits with all the parts needed for the swap, Summit Racing & Speedway Motors also have kits. You can also do a "search this thread" on the subject......
lots of good info on upgrading the brakes on our trucks.
Just my 2 cents worth but save yourself a lot of grief and purchase a complete 9” kit not a universal one. I tried piece mealing mine together with two different bracket kits and ended up with more in it than I would have buying a specific 9” kit in the first place.
Won’t be able to use the kits as my truck front end and rear end are not stock. Just looking into master cylinders and proportioning valves.
also I was looking into 9” specific kits
When looking at rear brake kits beware that there are at least 4 different 9'' housing ends, so you need to know which one you have. Personally I would run the drums in the rear.
I can always just keep the drums too if that’s recommended. Can someone point me in the direction of these kits? Probably preferably the stock mounted ones
