Installation instructions

I am needing instructions for installing front fender to cowl welding. I also need instructions for installing the front fender brace inside the cab. I tried one side and it is hitting the hinge pocket and won't lay flat. I have searched the internet but not finding anything.

Hey Pappy,

Here is at least instructions for the brace. Hopefully its what you are looking for. About the fender welting. I haven't found any yet. If you have a shop manual it could be in there. I you don't have a shop manual you should get one.

The fender brace that installs from the inside is just bolted in via the fender hardware. I've read where some have Used panel adhesive but I re ally don't know if it's necessary. I think the originals were spot welded but it's been a while since I've had an original that wasn't eaten up around the floor.

Like I explained in first post, it hits against the hinge pocket. I don't think bending the bottom will change that. I already bent it a little and didn't change anything. Can I just use large washers?

I'm surprised the brace is hitting the hinge pocket. Are you sure you have the right one? It should line up with the holes on the side panel. Any chance we can see a pic of the inside. Also the outside with the fender on.

I know that my truck doesn't have the braces that you posted hooler. However my truck is a hodge podge mixture of 55 and 56. Thanks for posting that I always saw those in catalogs and couldn't figure out where they went. Was it original to all 53-56?? I am taking apart the front sheet metal on mine this winter to repair rusted inner fenders, etc. Thanks for the help. guys! Greg.

Hi Greg,
I honestly don't know if they were factory OE or not. I am not familiar with the part either. If its a "brace" I dont believe my truck has one either. However, I see in the In Ford factory parts catalog they show a part that looks somewhat like that. A B6C-17526 or ends with 7 for left hand side, they call a "running board to cab splash shield". Otherwise in looking over the exploded diagram, I did not see a "brace". Naturally they could be two different things.

Every truck cab I've dealt with had them from the factory and spot welded in place..
