Fender support

So I managed to chase down a squeak in my passenger side fender but I have no clue how to fix it. The problem seems to be that the C-channel looking support that holds the J-nuts where the fender meets the cab is separating from the fender skin. How do I fix this? I'd rather not have to weld and mess up the paint but I guess that would be better than the fender coming off

Just looked at mine there off the truck is it the one where the bolt goes thru the side of cab if so it's about 3 to 4" from the corner and I bet u could weld if the metal is not torn to far
Just remembered their is a rubber spacer between fender and cab at that corner

If the metal is torn or cracked remember to stop drill first then weld.

Thanks for the info Bill, spot welding rib in place seems to have stopped the rattling/squeaking.
