Update!
Something isn't working right. After installing a temperature gauge in the test port, I'm not seeing temperatures over 150°. It's averaging 140ish. I think I'm having an issue with the ground. Both the ground on the sensor and the ground on the gauge are tied to the ground by the driver side headlight.
Thoughts? It's a GlowShift 7-color gauge

That's pretty much what I see in my 1996 F150 as monitored through an OBDII phone app. It goes up with ambient temperature (or down). Mid July, 165-170F, dead of January, 130-135F is common.

Really?! I was expecting it to be much higher after hearing the stories of people hitting 260 driving through town. And with my truck weighing in at 6700 pounds (I got weighed today), I definitely expected it to be higher than 150°, especially with most modern trucks running 180-220.

I made a new post originally, but I'm going to Zombie this post instead since it has more details.
I FINALLY pulled my codes and got a KOEO 622 and CM 452.
Since this post, I've done nothing to the MLPS. Truck doesn't slip often, but it does happen still. There's been no overheating (hasn't gotten over 140*F)
452 - No idea where to start with this. I've seen threads talking about the PSOM, VSS, tone ring, and MLPS. Where's a good place to start.
622 - I'll pull the connector on the passenger side of the transmission tomorrow and report back. Anything else I should be looking for here before I drop the pan and replace the solenoid?

452 is a Memory only code and means the VSS has had an issue but it is not active now. When you run your KOEO test again, if you unplug the connection while in test mode, memory will erase.

I've read this post, and sadly my brain isn't making much sense of it. I do understand the importance of checking that plug on the side of the transmission, but beyond that, I'm lost.
My line of thought is "Check Plug" if plug is good -> "Replace Solenoid". let me know if i need to add steps in the middle there.

Cleaning the plug and the contacts and checking wiring is about all you need to do at this point. Electrical contact cleaner works good good to clean the contacts.
If that doesn't work you can address other options to fix this code. Maybe our transmission expert will chime in if needed.
Clear that VSS code and after you drive it you can check again and see if it comes back. After you clear it check the codes again and make sure it is gone.

Sounds good. I'll get under there and check it out tomorrow. A few months ago, I could've let this be, but I've just kicked off my own business, and this is my daily driver now, so I need to get these things sorted sooner, not later.
If the plug is the issue, is this the correct replacement part?

There is no need to replace the plug as I recall. Just clean all the contacts and make sure you are getting a good connection is what you are doing now. The shift solenoid is what is discussed in that thread and we don't need to go there yet and as mentioned a trans expert is who should make the call to go in that direction. Also see my previous post.
