I appreciate your input sir.
All my vehicles are old, never driven anything that does that. My thought was it doesn’t seem necessary for the engine to shut off when I’m at a stop sign for 2 seconds.
Right. And if the "7 second" thing is correct, it actually wastes gas.
I noticed something on the test drive--thought I was running over some little bumps. Then I realized the thing was stopping and starting everytime I lifted my foot off the brake to creep forward.

I thought once it had stopped once at a light, creeping forward at low speed and stopping again would not stop the engine a second or third time. There was a minimum speed it needed to hit. Or was that just on the 2020 and older trucks?
Hmmmm, from the factory…….are you sure about that?
Your asking “me” if I’m sure…….Does the water ripple when a duck farts?…… you even get to save another 50 bucks by deleting it. You have to do your homework on the order form from a dealership and I’m guessing more than 50% of the people you order it from are not aware of that option but it’s in all the paperwork.
Say Thank you……lol.

That I do not. My “guess” would be yes. But only the guy punching in the order at the dealership will be able to tell you when they pull it up on the dealership order form on their Computer. it will not be online on build a Ford website.

Awesome.
Thanks for the info and I’ll have to remember that this can only be done in the dealership.
Always nice to learn something new.
I got used to the auto start-stop on my 2018 3.5L EB, and I tried disabling it for a while. The feature made a noticeable difference in gas mileage, so I use it. I'm accustomed to it now and my brake to gas rhythm has changed; I only had one scare- I was at a traffic circle, and the steering wheel wasn't turned far enough to disable auto start - stop, and I moved too quickly from brake to gas- and the engine sputtered and dragged for a bit. No collision but definitely a learning moment.
The 2021 I have now drives the same and I don't give it a second thought. Occasionally I press the defeat button on the dashboard if I need to move quickly from a stop. Typically I get 20-21 MPG with 89 octane.
I just ordered a Platinum and I was gave the option of deleting start-stop, Of course I did as I had used Forscan to turn it off on my other trucks, The dealer said it was to save computer chips.
When I ordered my truck on 10/4 I didn’t think to ask the dealer to delete it.
I guess I’ll just turn it off with the button. Assuming my truck gets built, it will be a hunting/tow the boat rig. Mostly highway miles
My understanding is that in the test used to determine mpg, a large portion is done at an idle. This allows car makers to advertise higher mpg than you are likely to get. Turning it off was just part of my "get ready to drive" checklist.

Is this unique to the F-150. I pretty consistently get better mileage than rated on all my cars including a Subaru Legacy, Ford Fusion Sport and Dodge Durango.
True on my 2019 5.0 gen 3 on the highway. I got better. Not so true in town. Same for the 2016 Ecoboost 6 speed. 2021 is not broke in yet so can't tell but it does pretty well on the highway so far. I haven't seen the 23mpg yet. Gas mileage towing sucks on all of them. lol
