Coolant flush and fill

Anyone have a good writeup for a coolant flush and fill on a 2017 6.7? Doing both primary and secondary and having trouble finding much info. Also, does the yellow coolant still need an additive? Tia

I did it. As you might expect, it's really hard to get everything drained.
For the primary: I drained the radiator stopcock and took off the hose to the oil cooler (drivers side). Drained completely. Added distilled water until full, drove till warm (maybe 15 minutes), stopped and drained. Repeated for a total of FOUR times until the coolant drained was essentially clear. After last drain, added back concentrate to 1/2 of the stated capacity and then topped off with distilled water.

For the secondary: Same thing but only drain was secondary radiator stopcock. Same four drain/refill cycles to get to clear water.

Thanks for the reply, did you still use an additive with the yellow coolant?

Here's a drain and fill procedure from OEM Svc Manual.

Easiest way to do a flush is to remove the t-stat. Takes 5 mins. That way, you don’t have to drive the truck to get the coolant moving.

So with the t stat, how long do you have to drive? Without t stat, how long to drive?

It’s the fact that you don’t have to drive. It can idle in the driveway and achieve the same results when the t-stat is out. I detach the hose returning to the degas bottle and let it drain while topping the system off with water. When the water out of the return hose starts pushing clean water, I dump the system one more time, add my 50% quantity of coolant, then top off with water giving me a perfect 50/50 mix. It takes around 45 mins to an hour to do the primary system this way.

That would be faster than what I described, which probably took 3 hrs altogether.

I ended up doing it about the same way you did. Took 22 gallons of distilled water in the primary system until it flushed clear. Refilled with 4.5 gallons of Motorcraft yellow concentrate (VC-13-G) and topped off with distilled water
