The truck drives good with lots of power. All of the play in the steering is gone. The counterweight for the exhaust valve fell off so I am going to have to address that. I think the heat loosens it on the shaft.
It was difficult to shift into second at first, but once the gear oil heats up it is fine. I am running 140 so I think I might need to lower that with all new parts/gears.

Have put about 100 miles on the engine. I had an issue where the oil gauge was reading near zero on hot idle. I changed the sender out back to original and that fixed that. I torqued the head bolts again tonight back to 60 lbs. They had loosened up quite a bit, I got about a 1/4 turn out of each one.
Other than that starting and running good, no leaks.

Guys, I have been driving the 50 all year. The rebuilt 226 runs strong, but it’s just not the same as our 52 stroked v8. Dad and I have decided to built another stroked v8 and swap it in. The block goes to the machine shop next week. I guess it’s just the disease at work….will start another thread on it.
