Just joined the forum. I have a 2003 F250 Lariat that I have used in the Coatings buisness for 9 years so it needs work cosmetically🤣
I just replaced the V10 and cleaning her up since I won't be hauling a bunch of crew around like I use to. Since dropping the money on the motor I have decided to keep it.
My 250 is the FX which I have been told came with a 2 inch lift. I have also been told that an FX didn't come with a 2" lift. It definitely sits higher than other standard 250s same yearish as mine.
reason I ask is trying to visualize what my gains would be with a 4" vs a 6" lift??
I have a ton of questions about lift components, wheels and probably alot more but will ask those on another thread.
I do see a block about 2" rear.
so what's yalls thoughts 2003 F250 Lariot Fx4 came with 2" or not?
"New for 2003 is the FX4 Off-Road Package ($225), which adds skid plates, Rancho shock absorbers, a steering damper and FX4 decals. The skid plates ($100) are also available as a stand-alone option."
So there wasn't a "factory lift". All 250s got an approximately 2" block, 350s got a taller block, just over 3" i think. You need to look at your spring codes on the door sticker and then find out what packages are on the truck such as towing, plow or camper packages. You probably have some packages that got you the highest rated springs which will sit higher stock.
4" and 6" lift measurement is just a general measurement. If you read enough reviews you can see there's a huge variation depending on where the truck started out. A 4" lift might add 6" to a worn out, lighter rated 250, but only 3" to a heavy rated, low mileage 250.

Awesome, that helps alot. I just finished a lift on my TJ where I learned alot by. The 250 is different and trying to learn as much as possible before pulling the trigger. I appreciate your post and will look up the door codes.
If you go off of what other people are running with a tire size similar to what you are planning on running you'll get a good idea. Regardless of what springs you have now or how worn they are/aren't, the final outcome will be similar to anyone else's same gen f250. The springs that are in there are getting replaced anyway. I worded that like crap, but you probably get the idea. What are you looking to run? Side note - what gears are in it? You don't want to go big and run inadequate gears.

looks like I have c-1 so 3.75 and am running 285/75r16 33s now was hoping to run 315/75r16 35s next tire change and if I don't like it I would suck it up and have the guys that re geared my jeep do the truck. What do most recommend for gears and 35s thinking 4.10 or higher numerically?
think I am settling on a 4 inch lift but considering 6 inch.
I put a leveling kit on my 03 so if you need questions about that Id be happy to help, Its a Donahoe hanger kit which is now ICON, 315/70/17 BFG AT2 on Methods. Bilstien 5100 on all fours

Thank! looks like my truck. That looks about like what I'm going after. Can you point me in the right direction to look that kit up?

For the V-10, 4.30 is generally considered the "sweet spot" for best all around performance and towing ability. Running true 35" tire's you would need 4.88 gears to get it to an effective 4.30 ratio. 35"s with 3.73 gears is going to be a little less than impressive, performance wise. I run the 35" and 4.88 combo on my '05 EX and it's like a different truck compared to the stock 31.6" and 3.73. The EX starts out about 2" lower than a same year pickup (to make them more civilized for the Soccer Moms) and my 35"s fit fine with only 4" of lift, which would be about 2" over a stock pickup.
I very much agree with the 4.88 gear recommendation that WE3ZS made based on my experience running those gears in my 2003 with 315/75R16 tires and a 5.4. With that 2003, I had just a 1" lift in the front, but I also slid the front axle forward 1" to avoid rubbing on the rear of the fenders. I accomplished that using OffRoad Designs Zero Rate Add-a-leaf. Picture below.

yep I think a regear is inevitable for the 315/75r16. I like to convince myself I could live with it but I know I can't . Probably do the lift and stick with the current 28575r16 now and re gear later.
Can I find out what gears and springs I have from this??
Yes that is possible, I have seen guys do it here, but it's the older guys who been here a long time. I don't know myself. I wish I knew because I just bought an 03 FX F350 too and I want to make it higher for these hohrrible roads around here.

I figured it out. I found a site were I entered my Vin # and it gave my build sheet. I can't remember the site but it wasn't hard to find.
At least you can read your sticker. Here is mine below. The spring code area is rubbed off. I can see that axle code is F2 but the VIN decoder on FTE does not list that. I found on blueovaltrucks that it's an LS with 4.10s in the pumpkins. Joy is mine as I tow a lot. Because my truck is FX4, the leafs are different, or so I hear. FTE says it should be single front leaf, but I have double leafs up front, for example.
