Hey guys took my 76 hiboy in to get the front end aligned. I used to have 33’s on it and now have 35’s. They called in the afternoon and said the drivers side needs a shim and they didn’t have any and checked with all their suppliers and no one has any. Do you know of any supplier that would have some?
Also so when I picked the truck up they said that my brake calipers were rubbing on the rims. I put a front lift kit on and now run 35’s. I’ve had these rims on that truck since I bought it brand new. They said they ground a little off the calipers but it’s still grinding. Any ideas???

Rims on the truck since 1976 now start rubbing a caliper some 45 years later ... alignment is out too, needs a shim they say? Maybe wheel bearings are shot letting the hub & wheel wobble and shows up to an alignment tech that missed the bad bearings ... or maybe spindle is loose on steering knuckle? How much did they grind I wonder? What shims are needed?
You can get shims from the lift kit brands like Ranch or Skyjacker. it' common to need them there just isn't enough demand for shops to stock them anymore.
Agreed on your rub issue, unless they changed the calipers or something a wheel that worked should always work unless you have a problem.
Thanks for the info. Put all new bearings in so I don’t think it’s that. I did take the power steering assist off and replace it with a 1978 power steering sector. Love how easy it steers compared to what it used to be. Don’t know if that would effect that. It had a 390 in it and I put a 429 in it. I know the 429 is a lot heavier and might make it squat a little. Don’t know for sure. The shim he showed me was maybe an inch to an inch and a quarter long with threads on the bottom and a nut on top with a place to put a cotter pin through it. It has around 80;000 miles on it and maybe more things are worn out. I had this shop do other work for me and I was always satisfied. But we all know how the work force has changed.
Maybe this is what they are talking about for Camber on Dana front axle.
Camber Shim..goes behind spindle. the measurements in picture +/-. (very old mic)
My .02 worth on this item.....
