1993 Ford F-250 5.8l E40D
Alrighty so I fully understand that a conversion of this nature includes a new bellhousing, transmission. I just have a few questions. (honestly originally was considering a 390 swap however from what I understand it would be the same amount/more work).
Will I my current frame beam that runs under the transmission work for the 460 E40D? Will I have to install larger engine mounts? Is the driveshaft length the same? Will I need a different ECU? Etc.
Thanks to any who can help in advanced

It will, but it is not chamferred like the one for the 460 to accommodate the oil cooler. I did not notice this until I had the 460 lowered into the engine bay, so I just pulled the cooler off and replaced it with a Ford Motorsport remote filter mount. If I had known ahead of time, I *think* I could have cut the hole out bigger where the oil filter goes and (still deleted the oil cooler but) just put the oil filter directly onto the motor.
Will I have to install larger engine mounts?
I had to replace the motor mount perches because I was converting from the 300 Six. You *might* be able to use your existing perches by modifying the 460 motor mounts. The 460 mounts have 2 bolts and the 351W mounts have 1. If you cut off one of the bolts on the 460 mount, it looks like it will fit the existing perches, but, again, I cannot confirm that because that is not what I did.
You can use the existing small block perches by buying 302/351 to 460 mounts sold by places like Bronco Graveyard. Otherwise you need the perches off a 460 truck. Yes the engine crossmember is different and you’ll need to use a remote oil filter or notch your existing one as said above. Keep in mind that notch you need to make is large.
What transmission do you currently have and what will be replacing it? That will determine if you can use your existing driveshaft/s and tranny crossmember.

Current transmission I have is a E40D for the 351W, and I was hoping to get the E40D for the 460. Also wouldn't notching the crossmember weaken what holds the engine up? Or am I just being dumb?
