Hi guys,
my 01 front seats are a disaster and I’d like to replace them. What would be ideal for me would be a power driver seat that has memory abilities so hubby (6’2”) and I (5’6”) can both drive without having to constantly adjust. I know I’ve read on here that the super duty seats can be used, can anyone tell me what years and where can I find these (I assume junk yard).
The superduty seats of the same era should fit, but they'll also be in the 15+ year old range.
Perhaps a better alternative would be having a local upholstery shop re-upholster them, or if that is to expensive , plenty of places sell replacement upholstery that you can install yourself.
As for the memory feature, IDK if just adding the seat itself will work to add this feature. At the very least you'd also need the door switch, maybe wiring harness and even then who knows if the trucks computer CAN bus is setup to receive and store that input if it wasn't an option the truck had from the factory. Maybe someone else who has done or attempted this and has more knowledge on the memory seat function will chime in.

I was looking at changing my seats on my 98 Dodge RAM 3500. If you can weld or have a local company that can, then buying one from a wrecked newer truck is what I was going to do. I've bought an Excursion instead and will end up selling the Dodge. It just has to physically fit. Then weld in mounting brackets from the newer truck year parts. The harder part can be figuring out the wiring if you want heated / moving / and memory. Finding a nice set with the seatbelts is not always easy. If not then you have to find those that can fit with the new seats. I'm no expert on these. Just gathered info for my change that ended up not happening.
